SG debuts its multi-connectivity F1 Smart Module complete with LoRaWAN® protocol to springboard SMEs into the IoT ecosystem
Hong Kong SAR, China – April 10, 2024 – SG Wireless Limited, an IoT technology-agnostic solutions provider, introduces its newest F1 Smart Module, a MicroPython-programmable microcontroller equipped with short-to-long range network connectivity for enterprise-grade IoT application development.
The F1 Smart Module packs Bluetooth LE, Wi-Fi, LTE as well as LoRaWAN® protocols in a compact form factor, and is available in the F1 Starter Kit on a true plug-and-play evaluation board for rapid prototyping. Especially useful for small- to medium-sized enterprises looking to branch out into IoT, the zero-touch provisioning set-up connects users to the SG Ctrl. Cloud for application customization and subsequent device management and data visualization.
The inclusion of LoRaWAN connectivity in the module complements SG’s recent re-entry into the LoRa Alliance®, a leading association driving the global success of the LoRaWAN standard for low-power wide-area network (LPWAN) IoT solutions. The F1 module offers users an easy leverage to explore and deploy long-range and low-power communication ideal for remote control and management applications involving low data rates.
“We are delighted to be rejoining the LoRa Alliance and look forward to seeing the F1 module make its rounds in the community,” says Carl Hung, CEO at SG. “LoRaWAN technology has developed in leaps and bounds. The F1 module will enable users to stay ahead while focusing on what is important – their business application.”
“I am pleased to have SG back as a member of the LoRa Alliance,” says Donna Moore, Chairwoman and CEO of the LoRa Alliance. “The F1 module is a valuable addition to the ecosystem that empowers users to contribute to the continued success and growth of LoRaWAN deployments.”
The Things Industries, an established LoRaWAN connectivity and services provider and a member of the LoRa Alliance itself, supports SG’s latest development. “The F1 module was designed to be simple to set up and intuitive to use,” says Wienke Giezeman, CEO & Co-founder at The Things Industries. “It lends a stepping stone to overcoming the entry barrier into the IoT market.”
The F1 Smart Module comes in three variants: the F1 Smart Module for full-range programming flexibility, the F1/C Cellular Module for high-speed and high data volume transmission requirements and the F1/L Module using LoRaWAN for low-cost, long-range data transfers. The F1 Starter Kit is also available for immediate configuration and prototyping. SG will debut the products at embedded world 2024 (Apr 9 – 11, 2024), Hall 3, Stand 3-614.
